Steak and Cheese Flatbread perfect for appetizers or an easy dinner! Soft flatbread topped with steak bites, cheese, cherry tomatoes, red onion and fresh spinach.
I like to serve as dinner with a nice side salad. Flatbread can be a fun twist on traditional pizza, or an open-face sandwich. Get creative and add your favorite toppings! Here, I did a “steak and cheese” version topped with tender steak bites, fresh tomatoes and spinach, red onion and garlic. I drizzled it with seasoned olive oil and added both Parmesan cheese and mozzarella. The result was so flavorful! Juicy steak paired with the fresh vegetables and cheese was a winning combination. Enjoy!
Ingredients for Steak & Cheese Flatbread
Here’s what you’ll need:
Flatbread– you can make your own or simply pick some up at the grocery store like I did. I got a 2 pack in the deli section.
Steak Bites– I am trying to mix dinners up a bit at my house, so we opted to go meatless! I used Gardein’s Homestyle Beefless Tips, which we cut in half. My kids had no idea they were eating a plant-based food and we all loved the tender, juicy taste. Whether you’re eating plant-based for a day, a month or forever, Gardein has the food that will deliver great taste on any occasion.
Fresh Vegetables– I used some thinly sliced red onion, whole grape tomatoes and fresh spinach leaves.
Seasoned Olive Oil– I lightly seasoned my olive oil with coarse salt, pepper, garlic and Rosemary
Cheese– I used a combination of Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese
How to make Flatbread
Preheat oven to 400° F.
I baked my flatbread in a Breville Combi Wave 3-in-1. It’s the size of a toaster oven but does SO much more! It’s an air fryer, convection oven and inverter microwave all in one countertop appliance. It was so simple to use! It preheats in 3 minutes and my flatbreads were evenly heated and lightly toasted on top.
Combine ingredients for seasoned olive oil in a small bowl. Stir oil, minced garlic, Rosemary, salt & pepper until blended.
Spread flatbreads lightly with olive oil mixture. Top with spinach leaves, grape tomatoes, red onion and steak bites.
Lightly brush top of ingredients with additional olive oil mixture.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Let cool & cut into pieces to serve.

Can you make Flatbread Ahead of time?
Flatbread is best made and served right away, but it can be made ahead of time. I suggest assembling the flatbread completely and refrigerating it until you’re ready to bake, then serve it. It can be baked an hour ahead of time, then kept warm until time to serve.
Can you freeze flatbread?
Yes, you can freeze flatbread. I recommend baking it then cooling and packaging it in an airtight container. It’s best reheated in a toaster oven, like the Breville Combi Wave 3-in-1but it can also be microwaved for quick meals.
Additional Flatbread Toppings
Toppings for flatbread are nearly endless! More ideas include roasted red peppers, bell peppers, pineapple, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and olives.
