CARAMEL APPLE NACHOS

I love fall and I LOVE caramel apples.  I saw this idea for making caramel apples – nacho style and I couldn’t wait to try it.  It’s simple, delicious, and you can add as many (or as few) toppings as you’d like.  The end result is a lot easier to eat than a traditional caramel apple too…although still a little messy!

Butter With a Side of Bread: Caramel Apple NachosCARAMEL APPLE NACHOS
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 5 Tbsp butter
  • 35 caramels
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 4-5 apples, sliced
  • toppings (peanuts, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, crushed candy bars, etc)
Melt the marshmallows and butter in a saucepan over low heat.  Stir periodically until completely melted and smooth.  Combine the caramels and water in a bowl and microwave until melted.  I microwaved mine in 45 second intervals, stirring in between until the caramel was smooth.  Arrange the sliced apples on a plate and pour the caramel and marshmallow mixtures over them.  Add any additional toppings and serve immediately!  Enjoy!

  1. What a delicious snack for the grandkids, thinking Christmas Eve! They love fruit and I can decorate in green, white and red. Making it festive and I bet Santa and his reindeer would love some too! Thanks for sharing! Keep those recipes coming! I need some more NEW holiday treats….

  2. Would these work if needed for a snack that is make-ahead? I could see dumping the apples in a Vit C bath or lemon juice, and then pouring on the other stuff, but it would it work if it was made up more than an hour in advance for after-choir snacks, for instance?

  3. […] Spread top third of each cookie (opposite wooden stick) with caramel glaze. Hold cookie upright to allow glaze to drizzle down cookie.  If it’s not spreading a lot, add more caramel! You can also encourage the caramel to spread down one side or another by adding drips to certain sections of the top of the cookie. Sprinkle with candy sprinkles. Allow cookies to sit out about an hour for caramel to harden a bit. Lay flat to store. ENJOY!  You’ll love our recipe for Caramel Apple Nachos! […]
