Snowbird provided us tickets in exchange for my honest review. I had family visiting over the 4th of July weekend and I wanted to show them a unique side of summer in Utah, so we headed up to Snowbird for the day. If you haven’t experienced a ski resort in the summer, you’ve got to try it out! Snowbird is nestled up Little Cottonwood Canyon and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Pictures don’t do it justice- you’ve got to go and see for yourself what it’s like to be right in the middle of some of the most glorious sceneryin Utah.
There are a variety of summer activities available- an Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, Mountain Flyer, Vertical Drop, Bungee Trampoline, a High Ropes Course and Rock Wall. If you’d like to venture up to 11k elevation, you can also go on the Aerial Tram, or our favorite, the Peruvian Chair Lift. We did them all multiple times and I can say without a doubt, they’re all incredible! I love that so many of the activities are safe even for small children. We even took our stroller up on the Aerial Tram and ate at the gourmet cafeteria at the top. There’s not too many opportunities to eat a meal at 11k feet!
Our kids loved the Alpine Slide and Mountain Coaster the most and even us adults thoroughly enjoyed those activities. The mountain coaster winds you back in through the forest and the view is so pretty I nearly forgot I was on a roller coaster. My kids loved that they could “drive” down the Alpine Slide themselves while watching the prairie dogs run around the mountainside as they traveled down.
When you go to Snowbird you must, must, must try out the Peruvian Chair Lift! There was never a line when we went- which I don’t understand at all since it’s an absolutely amazing experience. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the summit and since you’re out in the open air, it can get a bit chilly. The weather at the base the day we went was 84 degrees F and it dropped to the low 60’s while we were on our way up. Bring layers of clothing so you can relax and enjoy it! Between the mountain views, the gigantic rocks with colorful wildflowers, snow runoff resulting in several small streams and the peacefulness, I was ready to ride that lift all day.
We arrived right when they opened and left just before closing and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our day. It was an unforgettable experience and we can’t wait to go back.
