EASY SPINACH DIP
This baked dip recipe is made with frozen spinach, mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, salsa verde and parmesan cheese. Add some spices and seasonings before baking the dip. Serve warm with chips, veggies, pretzels, bread, or crackers.
Ingredients in Easy Spinach Dip
Spinach: The recipe calls for 8 ounces of frozen spinach. I usually buy a 10 ounce box and just use all of it, so it doesn’t have to be exact. It is extremely important to defrost the spinach and then squeeze and drain all excess moisture out before adding the spinach to the other ingredients. To help get all the moisture out, you can place the spinach in a towel once the spinach is defrosted. Squeeze any excess liquid from the spinach.
Mozzarella cheese: You will need a total of 1 ½ cups of shredded mozzarella cheese. Some of it will be mixed into the dip and some will be sprinkled on top.
Cream cheese: Eight ounces of cream cheese makes the dip so creamy! You can use any type of cream cheese (regular, non-fat or low-fat). Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before adding to the recipe.
Sour cream: A cup of sour cream also adds to the creaminess of the dip. I often swap this out with plain Greek yogurt and it works great too!
Salsa verde: Salsa verde is what gives this dip so much flavor!
Parmesan cheese: Freshly grated parmesan cheese is amazing in this dip! Again, some of the cheese is mixed into the dip and the rest is sprinkled on top.
Garlic: You need 2 cloves of garlic for the dip. To save time, I always have minced garlic in my refrigerator for recipes like this – you’ll need about a teaspoon of minced garlic.
Spices and herbs: Finely chopped parsley, dried dill, onion powder, salt, pepper and chives all contribute so much flavor to the spinach dip.

CAN YOU USE LOW-FAT CREAM CHEESE IN SPINACH DIP?
Yes, you can use low-fat or even non-fat cream cheese in this recipe. There is enough flavor and texture added in with the other ingredients that you probably won’t even notice the difference!
HOW TO SOFTEN CREAM CHEESE
Cream cheese is easy to soften – you can set it out at room temperature or soften it more quickly in the microwave.
-To soften at room temperature more quickly, just set the cream cheese on a plate and cut into smaller pieces. The cream cheese should reach room temperature in about 15-20 minutes with this method.
-To soften the cream cheese in the microwave, remove the foil packaging and set the cream cheese in a small bowl or on a plate. Microwave for about 10-15 seconds. If the cream cheese is still cold and hard, continue to microwave for about 5 seconds at a time until the cream cheese is soft throughout. Just make sure not to microwave it too long or it will start to melt!
