Chicken Cream Cheese Dip Appetizer
There are 2 essential things that make up every good dip, in my opinion. First, little prep work, we are talking 5 minutes, max. Second, it can be eaten while sitting on the couch, without making an absolute mess. This is why I love chip dips so much. Everyone grabs a bowl for themselves, dip on one side, chips on the other. Bada-boom-bada-bang! Let me tell you, this is the dip you want to try this year!

Chicken Cream Cheese Dip Ingredients
Cream cheese: You will need one 8-ounce block of cream cheese, softened, for the base of this amazing appetizer.
Sour cream: For even more creamy goodness, add in 1 cup of sour cream.
Cheese: Adding in 1 ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, divided, gives this appetizer amazing flavor and gooey texture.
Dry ranch seasoning: To flavor this dish more, add in 1 package of dry ranch dressing mix.
Chicken: You need 1 cup of chicken, cooked and shredded, for the amazing protein in this dip recipe.
Bacon: Use 1/2 cup of bacon bits, fresh or packaged, to give this dip even more wonderful flavor.
How to Make Chicken Cream Cheese Chip Dip
Prep
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F.
Dip mixture
Next, in a medium size bow, begin by mixing the softened cream cheese and the sour cream together. Remember though, we want 5 minutes of prep time…If you forgot to take yours out of the fridge, place it in a zip locked bag, squeezing all the air out before zipping it shut. Set the baggie covered cream cheese into a bowl of hot water and let it sit for a minute or so. This will soften it right up for you.
After the cream cheese and sour cream are mixed, add in 1 cup of cheese and ranch dressing mix. Mix until well combined and smooth.
Next, fold in shredded cooked chicken. You can totally prepare this shredded chicken beforehand in the crockpot or Instant Pot, but to make this extremely easy, you could use a rotisserie chicken.
Proceed to spread the mixture out into either an 8×8 pan or a pie plate.
Top the dip with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese and crumbled cooked bacon. I cooked my bacon with this easy way to make bacon, but you could totally use bacon bits or microwavable bacon from Costco.
Bake
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the dip is bubbly.
Serve with potato chips, tortilla chips, slices of French bread, seriously, whatever your heart desires and enjoy!

Can you make cream cheese dip ahead of time?
Yes, you can make this cream cheese dip ahead of time and then just refrigerate it until you are ready to bake it. Or you can just prepare the chicken and bacon ahead of time if you would like, that would make the prep work extremely easy once you are ready to assemble this amazing dip.
How do you store chicken cream cheese chicken dip?
If there are any leftovers (there never are in my house), you will need to store it in an airtight container in the fridge. If stored properly this will last 3-5 days. Reheat in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or eat it cold, either way it will still be delicious.
HOW TO SOFTEN CREAM CHEESE
Cream cheese is easy to soften – you can set it out at room temperature or soften it more quickly in the microwave.
-To soften at room temperature more quickly, just set the cream cheese on a plate and cut into smaller pieces. The cream cheese should reach room temperature in about 15-20 minutes with this method.
-To soften the cream cheese in the microwave, remove the foil packaging and set the cream cheese in a small bowl or on a plate. Microwave for about 10-15 seconds. If the cream cheese is still cold and hard, continue to microwave for about 5 seconds at a time until the cream cheese is soft throughout. Just make sure not to microwave it too long or it will start to melt!

My family had to make a few adjustments to this recipe to fit our tastes but man is it worth it! I substituted ranch powder for a combination of garlic powder, Italian seasoning and lemon pepper seasoning. We also sauteed a jalapeno and let it cool to room temperature before folding it in. This recipe is so forgiving and really allows for customization which I love! I also added fresh parmesan and about a 1/4 cup Oaxaca cheese (because I had it). Holy cow! Everything about it was amazing!
