Can you tell by the smile on my little girl’s face that we eat a lot of Cheerios™ in our family? She loves them and I do think this Apple Cinnamon variety is her favorite.
Cheerios™ has launched a fun new offer called “Buy A Box, Gift A Free Box” and it’s easy to participate. Simply go to your local Walmart and find the specially marked boxes. Enter in your code found on the red label here and fill out the form with a friend’s email address. Your friend will then receive an e-card with a link to enter their mailing address. Soon afterwards they’ll get a coupon in the mail for an entirely free box of Cheerios™. Breakfast for everyone!
What kind would you pick?! I got Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™ this time but my pantry is well stocked with our other favorites, namely Multi Grain, Cinnamon Almond Protein and our old favorite, Honey Nut.
I was able to send a box to a fellow blogger in the Social Fabric community named Glenda from http://busy-at-home.com. I love the thought of brightening someone’s day with a simple gesture like this. Plus, who doesn’t love free stuff?! So fun!
Just be sure to purchase a box with the special “Buy A Box, Gift A Free Box” red label like this one below. Then keep it somewhere safe so that you have the code when you’re ready to gift your free box to a friend.
I was able to find the specially marked boxes on the cereal aisle at Walmart, amongst all the other boxes of Cheerios™. Not all of the boxes have them, so be sure to get one with the red label!
Cheerios™ aren’t just for breakfast either! I brought mine home and whipped up a simple recipe for after-school cookies that my kids adore. Honestly, they go crazy over these! I love that your house smells incredible while baking them too.
Cheerios™ Apple Cinnamon Cookies
- 1 15.25-oz box yellow cake mix
- 1 1/2 cups Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™
- 1/2 cup old fashion or quick oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 1 cup peeled and diced apple
- 3/4 cup applesauce
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, Cheerios™, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon. In another bowl, combine the egg, applesauce and chopped apple. Combine the two mixtures and mix well. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until slightly golden brown. (I used a 2 TBSP cookie scoop so that my cookies were a bit larger. Bake at 375 degrees F for 12-14 minutes.)

As you may have heard, some select boxes of Cheerios™ and Honey Nut Cheerios™ produced over two weeks in July at the Lodi, California plant, have been recalled due to a wheat allergen. This recall only affects consumers with Celiac disease or a gluten-sensitivity. To learn more about the recall, and if your product is affected please go to: http://blog.generalmills.com/.
