The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies - Butter With a Side of Bread

Over the last 10-15 years, I have made dozens of different chocolate chip cookie recipes in a search for the perfect one. There have been several that I really like but I always come back to this one! There are several reasons why these are the best. First of all, they are very simple to make. I’ve tried some “best” chocolate chip cookie recipes that require a lot of extra steps and I haven’t found the results to be worth the extra time and effort involved. Also, the dough is amazing! I have a couple recipes that make good cookies, but the dough isn’t quite so good and to me, the dough is the best part so it has to be perfect. Another reason I like these is because they always turn out perfectly – they are soft and don’t end up being flat or crunchy which is very important to me. Every time I take these cookies anywhere, everyone is begging me for the recipe which is always a good sign for a must-have recipe. This recipe makes a ton of cookies too which is perfect if you need to take a treat to a party or a bake sale or somewhere.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups butter-flavored Crisco
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 5 cups flour
  • 2-3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream together the sugars and Crisco with a mixer. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix. Add the salt, baking soda and flour and continue to mix until well combined. Fold in the chocolate chips. Use a cookie scoop to scoop cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet; place the cookies about 2″ apart. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Let sit for 4-5 minutes and then transfer to wire cooling racks. Enjoy!
