Proof yeast: Start by adding the warm water, yeast, and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer, give it a quick stir and then let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Make dough: Next, add in the olive oil, bread flour, and salt, using the paddle attachment, mix until combined.
Knead dough: Swap out the stand mixer attachment for the dough hook and proceed to knead on medium speed until the dough is smooth and elastic. Add in more flour, a little at a time as needed, to make the dough stop being sticky.
Let rise: After that, place a piece of plastic wrap over the top of the bowl and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Once the dough has risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal sized pieces that weigh approximately 200 grams each. Proceed to roll each piece into 9 inch long sticks, place side by side on a baking sheet, cover and allow to rise again for another 30 minutes.
Bake: Get the oven preheating to 400 degrees F.
After the 30 minutes is up, remove the plastic wrap, and place the breadsticks in the preheated oven and bake the for 12 minutes. While the breadsticks are baking, make the butter topping.
Make topping: In a small bowl, microwave the butter to melt it completely, then add the garlic powder and salt, stir to combine. Once the breadsticks are done baking and have cooled for about 5 minutes, proceed to brush the seasoned butter over the top of each breadstick. Serve them warm and enjoy!
