- 5 Italian Sausages I used Sweet Turkey Italian Sausages.
- 1 red onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 TBSP olive oil for sauteing
- 5 bread or buns for serving them in
Prep: Slice the red onion and bell pepper thinly, then set them aside.
Cook: Get the grill preheated and then cook the sausages until they are cooked to your liking.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan on the stove. Add in the onions and bell peppers, plus a few shakes of an all-seasoning blend like McCormick Garlic and Onion, as well as some salt and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until they're soft, but not mushy. If the bell peppers taste bitter, add a dollop of honey into the mixture to help sweeten the veggie blend.
Assemble: Serve the sausages in bread buns and top with a few peppers and onions. You can eat them as-is, or if you're like my husband, you may enjoy topping them with some ketchup and mustard. Enjoy!
Leftover sausage and peppers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and they will last up to 3 days.
To reheat, simply heat in the microwave or on the stove until heated through.
