Brownie Donuts

Brownie Donuts offer a unique twist on the classic donut. Made with a rich and fudgy brownie batter, these chocolate glazed donuts are baked in donut trays to achieve the traditional shape. The end result is a delicious treat that combines the best of both worlds - the decadent taste of brownies and the fun shape of donuts.

Chocolate Ganache

  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate finely chopped
  • Sprinkles for decorating (optional)

Instructions

  • Prep: Preheat the oven to 325°F/160°c.  Spray two 6-ct donut pans with non-stick baking spray and set aside.
  • Batter: Chop the butter into slices and place them in a large microwave safe mixing bowl. Microwave the butter in 30 second increments, stirring gently in between, until it's melted. Stir until smooth.
  • Add the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract and whisk until well combined.  Add the flour, cocoa powder and salt, and mix until just combined. (The batter is combined once no white streaks remain, don’t over-mix the batter.)
  • Bake: Divide the batter between 2 donut trays. (You may find it easier to pipe the batter into the donuts pans rather than spooning the batter.) Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until just cooked through. Allow donuts to cool in the trays for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Chocolate topping: Start by finely chopping the chocolate into small pieces. Next add the heavy cream to a large microwave safe mixing bowl. Then microwave for 30 seconds or until warm. Continue to add the finely chopped chocolate and stir until melted and smooth. Dip the donuts into the ganache, and place on a tray, ganache side up, to set.  Decorate with sprinkles, if using, while the ganache is still soft. Serve & enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover donuts in an airtight container for up to 5 days. 
Donuts can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
