Crockpot Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken Legs

Crockpot Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken Legs are an easy to make and flavorful weeknight dinner! Tender, fall-off-the bone chicken drumsticks that are slow cooked in Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce everyone loves!

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs drumsticks
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cajun seasoning
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 cups bbq sauce
  • 7.5 oz can Dr. Pepper
  • Parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Prep: Place the chicken drumsticks in a 4.5 quart (or larger) slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle the pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder and cajun seasoning all over the chicken.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, BBQ sauce and Dr. Pepper. Pour ¾ of the sauce all over the chicken legs.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on LOW 5-6 hours or HIGH 3-4 hours.
  • Broil: Right before serving place the drumsticks on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper.
  • Brush the drumsticks with the remaining sauce and broil under the broiler until they are caramelized. Be careful to not let them burn! Keep a close on them under the broiler, you just want to crisp them up a bit.
  • Garnish with parsley, if desired, serve and enjoy!

Notes

Leftover Crockpot Dr. Pepper Chicken Legs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
To reheat, place the chicken in a microwave-safe dish and microwave until heated through. You can also reheat the chicken in the oven at 350°F for about 15 minutes or until heated through.
