  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk*
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp grated orange zest
  • 1 tbsp fresh squeezed orange juice (zest & juice both come from 1 med orange)

Butter Syrup

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup Half & Half
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • Preheat waffle iron.
  • Combine dry ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Add eggs to a mixing bowl and whisk. Add in melted butter, buttermilk, vanilla, orange zest and juice.
  • Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and whisk to combine. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until waffle iron is hot.
  • Depending on your waffle iron, pour in 1/4-1/3 cup waffle batter. Cook according to waffle iron directions.
  • Top with Butter syrup and fresh fruit. Enjoy!

Butter Syrup

  • Combine butter, sugar, half & half and honey in a medium sized saucepan. (Syrup will bubble up later on!) Whisk to combine while heating. Bring to a low boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat & add vanilla. Add baking soda in slowly. Let cool to thicken. Serve drizzled on waffles.

* Buttermilk in waffles creates a richer flavor, but the waffles are a bit softer. To get a crisper waffle, use regular milk.
Note: Nutrition facts calculated using only the waffle recipe, since the Butter Syrup serves about 20.
