Apple Cider Syrup

Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 6 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • Cook: In a medium sized saucepan, over medium/high heat, combine the sugar, cornstarch and pumpkin pie spice together and whisk to mix together. Then, pour in the apple cider and lemon juice, stirring until the dry ingredients dissolve completely.
  • Proceed to bring the mixture to a boil, once it start to boil, turn the heat down a little bit so it is not a rolling boil anymore. Then, set a timer for 30 minutes and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally to make sure the mixture doesn't burn. Once the syrup has cooked for the 30 minutes, add in the butter and stir it in gently until it has melted completely. Then remove the pan off the heat.
  • Cool and serve: Continue to pour the syrup into canning jars, let the syrup cool in the jars for a little bit.  Once cooled, place the lid tightly on top and store in the fridge until you are ready to use. When you are ready to enjoy the syrup, take the lid off the jar and microwave it for 1-2 minutes. Then pour it on pancakes, waffles, ice cream, pound cake, or whatever you'd like! Serve and enjoy!
