Cherry Italian Cream Sodas

- 16 oz jar maraschino cherries stems removed
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp half & half
- ½ cup cherry lemon lime soda 1/2 cup in each glass
- whipped cream & additional maraschino cherries for topping, if desired
Sweet syrup: Start by emptying the entire16-ounce jar of cherries (and cherry juice) into a blender. Be sure to remove any stems before though, you don't want those included. Then, add in the sugar and blend well until the mixture is thin and uniform in texture.
Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, until the syrup has thickened and chilled.
Soda assembly: To make the sodas, add ice cubes to each glass. Then, measure 1/2 cup of cherry lemon lime soda and pour into each glass. If you have larger/tall glasses, you can double all of the ingredients. Next, add about 1-2 tablespoons of the homemade cherry syrup to each glass. After that, top with 1-2 tablespoons half & half. If you want to make them extra special and fancy, add whipped cream and a cherry on top!
The sodas look super pretty layered, but I always add a straw and encourage everyone to give them a stir before drinking. Serve and enjoy!
