- 16 oz elbow macaroni pasta cooked according to package directions
- 5 TBSP butter divided
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 lb ground beef
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground pepper
- 24 oz marinara pasta sauce
- 2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend or mozzarella, or Colby Jack
Cook the macaroni according to the package directions.
While the pasta water is heating, melt 1 TBSP butter in a large skillet or dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes, until softened.
Add the ground beef and break the meat into pieces. Stir and cook until the ground beef is no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
Add 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet and melt. Sprinkle the flour on top of the cooked beef. Stir.
Add the beef broth, seasonings and pasta sauce. Stir to combine. Simmer for 7 to 10 minutes on low heat.
Add the macaroni to the sauce and top with cheese. Serve and enjoy!
If you'd like, you can stir in half the cheese and then top the meal with the remaining cheese before serving.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
Meal can be frozen for up to 2 months.
