Ingredients

  • 2 store-bought pie crusts One 7 oz box contains 2 pie crusts
  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 1 TBSP water for egg wash

For The Pop Tart Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 TBSP milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray or line with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • On a large floured surface, unroll both pie crusts and use a rolling pin to roll them out into 10” x 8” rectangles or the best size that will fit your baking sheet. It helps to use a ruler to precisely cut them.
  • Carefully roll one of the rectangles back around your rolling pin and roll it onto your prepared baking sheet.
  • Spread the strawberry jam in the center of the crust, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  • Place the second pie crust on top.
  • Use a fork to make indents along the border of the pop tart to seal it. Poke the fork all over the top of the pop tart. This will allow the air to escape while it bakes in the oven.
  • Make the egg wash by whisking 1 egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the egg wash around the border of the pop tart.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the pop tart is brown around the edges. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before icing.
  • Make the icing: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spoon the icing over the pop tart. Top with sprinkles and allow the icing to harden before cutting it.
  • Use a knife to cut into 8 regular size pop tarts, or enjoy it as one giant pop tart.
