Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • ½ cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 21 oz can cherry pie filling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.  Cut in the butter with a fork and knife or with a pastry blender. I like to just mostly use the back of the fork and smash the butter in.
  • In a separate bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave.  Microwave them for about 30 seconds and then stir them up.  If they need more melting, do it in 15-second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted and smooth.  Add milk and egg to melted chocolate and mix well.  Blend the chocolate into the flour mixture and stir until well combined.  The batter will be very thick.
  • Spread the cherry pie filling into the bottom of a greased 2-quart dish (could use an 8X8 or 9X9 pan also).  Drop the chocolate batter randomly over the cherries and bake for 40-45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
