Ingredients

  • 1 17.3 oz puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 1 21 oz canned apple pie filling
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp water

Almond Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400ºF. Prepare baking sheet by lining with parchment paper
  • Roll out puff pastry dough and slice each sheet into four equal squares.
  • Place about 3 tablespoons of pie filling in the center of each square.
  • In a small bowl combine the egg and water and beat together.
  • Brush the egg wash onto one half of the square. Fold the dough over corner to corner, forming a triangle. Press the edges together with the tines of a fork to seal.
  • Place the turnover onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and flaky.
  • To make the almond glaze, combine the milk, powdered sugar and almond extract in a bowl and mix to combine. Adjust the thickness of the glaze by adding more sugar or milk and stirring. Drizzle the glaze over cooled turnovers.
