Sounds like you needed to add some shortening like I suggested. ;)

Using a bit of coconut oil (or shortening!) is very helpful when you use coloring in chocolate! It will help it soften and coat your pretzels smoothly. One tip to remember is to not overheat the chocolate. I like to go really slow- microwave it in a glass or ceramic dish, then let it sit for 3-5 minutes and continue to melt. Stir gently too! Hope this helps!

I’ve been making white chocolate pretzels for several years. But I sprinkle on colored sprinkles according to the holiday instead of coloring the chocolate. I tried coloring the chocolate twice with two different food colorings and it did something very weird to the chocolate. Can you tell me what type of food coloring you use? I have never used coconut oil when melting, would that help with the food coloring?
I am not one of those moms that does a ton of baking for every holiday, so these pretzels are basically all my kids get. :) So, I would love to at least mix it up a bit!

Nope! No need to refrigerate them. They last a while, but I'd say they look the best if eaten within 5-7 days.

They sure are edible Barb- you can find them at craft stores like Michael's or Joann's, and in most grocery stores on the baking aisle, by the sprinkles. :)
